Green Climate fund (GCF); April 2019-October 2019, based in South Korea
I worked at the GCF as a Research Analyst Intern with the Knowledge Management team to design a knowledge management system for the GCF. During this time, I led research on different topics: (a)The Readiness and Preparatory Support Program (RPSP), to understand opportunities for learning, which we intended to use to design a pilot learning mechanism for RPSP; (b) I also worked with the Private Sector Facility (PSF) to develop knowledge material for its external stakeholders.
International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED); 2018, based in UK
Conducted a scoping study on devolved finance and their engagement of women and youth in Tanzania. Research undertaken for the Climate Justice Research Fund Devolved Climate Finance Project.
Mercy Corps; 2014-2016, based in Kenya but serving the Regional Resilience Hub for East and Southern Africa.
At Mercy Corps, I led the piloting of the Strategic Resilience Assessment (STRESS) in Karamoja (North Eastern Uganda). I also provided technical input into the design of the TRADER program, which was a market development program in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and Ethiopia funded by the Global Resilience Program (GRP).
Drylands Learning and Capacity building Initiative (DLCI); October 2014-January 2015, based in Kenya
At DLCI, I co-led the re-structuring DLCI’s advocacy and policy influence approach. This also enabled me to work with national and country governments on issues relating to development in the Arid and Semi-Arid parts of Kenya. I led the development of the DLCI databases e.g. on Resilience and Climate Change.
University of Sussex; September 2013-September 2014, based in the UK
I co-led a team of researchers that conducted a trial use of probabilistic seasonal climate forecasts in Kitui, Kenya. I also applied a cost-benefit analysis to understanding the value of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to development work in the Arid and Semi-Arid regions of Kenya.
CARE International; January 2013-September 2013, based in Kenya
My time at CARE introduced me to climate information and communication. I was the climate communications intern for the Adaptation Learning Programme which sought to link households and communities in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to seasonal climate information. I was part of the group that piloted and refined the Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP) approach in Kenya, Ghana, Niger and Mozambique.
Global Climate Adaptation Partnership (GCAP); 2011-2012, based in Kenya
I conducted a literature review and policy analysis on Ethiopia’s climate adaptation in agriculture and worked with Dr. Helen Greatrex.
